At fifty, Kevin Thompson Sinclair, an ex-NFL player, is an elegant, articulate, colorful figure. But with a criminal past, an extraordinarily difficult present, and a seemingly impossible future, his options are limited. This story begins when a tall blonde woman with a successful business, seeking a return to the dating scene, gets an e-mail from Kevin from an Internet dating site. The con and the mark meet, each seeking something the other can never give. The woman -the victim - who shared four and a half months of Kevin’s strife, tells the story. Kevin wants to build a new, honest life and regain some modicum of respectability. But he finds our system, and the people in it, flawed. With no family support, he is driven back to old habits, and, eventually, madness. From his first flirting e-mail, Kevin takes a firm hold on his meal ticket. He is smooth and practiced at his craft irresistible charm. Readers are given a glimpse into the mind of a lifelong con and user of innocents.
About the Author
As a veteran writer in the business arena, Patricia Wood, has seen her work in print and in commercials for three decades. Not contented with one career, she has been a serial entrepreneur during her rich life. This Renaissance woman now turns her keen observations and wit to the world around her, drawing on the amazing people and things that may escape our notice without her writings. Her life has been full of uncommon experiences and acquaintances because her arms are open and her mind eager for the exceptional moment. Pat’s website, patsoup.com, is filled regularly with thoughts, poems and essays sure to become the fodder for future novels. With a penchant for exposing the heart and humor in nearly every situation, Pat is an irrepressible optimist and high-energy motivator for friends, family, and readers. She is a free spirit, “a child of the ’60s,” who surrounds herself with art, good wine, kids of all ages, big dogs and those who share her gentle nature. By her own admission Pat is “someone with more to say, see, and do than there will be days for it all.” Readers will be the beneficiaries of her sharing her experiences as she has so openly in this first novel.

This book is truly terrible. I finished reading it because I wanted to see if it would ever redeem itself and because once I pay for a book I have trouble not reading it. The writing isn't even mediocre. There seems to be no real purpose to the book: it isn't a manual on how to use internet dating sites, or a shocking well-told real life story, or a learn from my mistakes as you go along my journey with me kind of book. If anything I'd say it reads like a disjointed report or set of journal entries of a very messed up person's encounter with a very pathetic needy con artist. Personally I don't like to read reports billed as novels. Also I like a story to flow and have a rhythm to it. This one does not. In the middle of the reporting about the author's and the con artist's relationship there are random asides about the author's frenetic internet dating habit. These tidbits aren't woven into the story in any sort of meaningful way. Also there appears to have been no editing done to the manuscript. There's the occasional sentence that doesn't make sense and the general poor organization to the story. By the end I couldn't stand the author: she contradicts herself numerous times and comes off as self-absorbed, disturbed, and almost as pathetic as the man she's taken it upon herself to expose to the world. It's really just atrocious on every level. I read virtually all types of fiction and nonfiction and can look past a mediocre writing style or flat storyline, etc if the book has other redeeming qualities. I mean not every book can be a masterpiece but this one should have never been published.I hope you don't waste your money like I did.

Matchcon eBook Patricia Wood Reviews
This is a fascinating story that captivates the reader from the first page to the last. I could not stop reading the novel until the climactic end. The plot twists, character development, and excitement of the story as it unfolds will amaze and entertain any reader. I would highly recommend this novel to anyone.
The web the author weaves and is woven into is proof positive that life is stranger than fiction. Poignant and timeless, "new" i-love does not always find a way. What orchestrated harmony promises in the e-world, discordant reality delivers. A page turner and soon to be screen play. You won't be disappointed.
quick fun read. The title says it all.
Nothing in the first chapters of this book prepares you for the ones ahead. Just when you've assimilated one shocking revelation, there's another, and another ... until you can only wonder just how far down the bottom is. A read as unsettling and engrossing as the experience it chronicles. Of course it's a true story. Nobody could make this up.
An amazing story. How many of us have tried to help someone? And was it someone we knew to be irresponsible? How many of us got burned because of our urge to support or salvage the person?
Patricia Wood's frankness in telling her story is remarkable. She lays bare how she was sucked into a maelstrom, exposed her family to the chaos of a con artist's life and risked her own security while trying to rescue a charming, elegant, intelligent, witty and destructive man.
I purchased this book so long ago, I don't remember it. I have always received good service on , and will use it to purchase other items. I was probably pleased with this purchase.
A quick read that hits some universal truths; the nature of woman, the nature of man, and a glimpse into a whole other world of the ex con and what drives the life forces of some folks. If there is someone in your family who is just a little off - and doesn't every family have one or more - you will probably find some insights here.
